DesignUp’s first visit to Hyderabad almost coincided with the opening of the first ever Ikea store in the city (Ikea plans got pushed out by a few days eventually).
Shashank Upadhyay and Radhika Kale, Partners and Design Principals from ScaleFactor Labs, Pune, led a packed workshop weaving in different methods to generate, classify and test ideas. The intense hands-on workshop packed in a lot of takeaways for the attendees.
Adobe’s Shandar Junaid grew his fan base – showing the attendees tips and tricks to move from ideas to prototypes using Adobe XD
After a short coffee break the attendees gathered back for the talks and panel. Narayan, DesignUp co-founder, presented the DesignUp story and evolution (and invited Hyderabad folks to join us in Bangalore in Oct, 2018).
Namisha Naidu raised the issue of sustainable development and what could Designers do towards that mission. Shipra Bhutada spoke about Design Research and shared some interesting stories from the field. Arvind Lodaya underlined how human behaviours are the hardest to shape, especially behaviours for good. Jay Dutta, did an encore of his talk on what could arranged marraiges teach product designers.
And then came the GrillUp with Shiva – including some hard hitting, provocative questions thrown at panel which included career designers, entrepreneurs and change makers: Ketan Hajarnavis, founder of ScaleFactor Labs joined Microsoft’s Principal Design Manager Rajib Ghosh and speakers Namisha and Arvind on stage.
No DesignUp event is complete without food and desserts. And especially in Hyderabad Biriyani is a must. But we also had the distinction of being the first to order Ginger Pudding at the banquet.
Great food, great conversations – we’ll be back soon in Hyderabad!
